The Secret Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ BKBK LALA MNMN

SHE passes in her beauty brightA
Amongst the mean amongst the gayB
And all are brighter for the sightA
And bless her as she goes her wayB
-
And now a gleam of pity poursC
And now a spark of spirit fliesD
Uncounted from the unlock d storesC
Of her rich lips and precious eyesD
-
And all men look and all men smileE
But no man looks on her as IF
They mark her for a little whileE
But I will watch her till I dieF
-
And if I wonder now and thenG
Why this so strange a thing should beH
That she be seen by wiser menG
And only duly lov d by meH
-
I only wait a little longerI
And watch her radiance in the roomJ
Here making light a little strongerI
And there obliterating gloomJ
-
Like one who in a tangled wayB
Watches the broken sun fall throughK
Turning to gold the faded sprayB
And making diamonds of dewK
-
Until at last as my heart burnsL
She gathers all her scatter d lightA
And undivided radiance turnsL
Upon me like a sea of lightA
-
And then I know they see in partM
That which God lets me worship wholeN
He gives them glances of her heartM
But me the sunshine of her soulN
