On A Young Poetess-s Grave Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEG AHAH IEIE

UNDER her gentle seeingA
In her delicate little handB
They placed the Book of BeingA
To read and understandB
-
The Book was mighty and oldenC
Yea worn and eaten with ageD
Though the letters look d great and goldenC
She could not read a pageD
-
The letters flutter d before herE
And all look d sweetly wildF
Death saw her and bent o er herE
As she pouted her lips and smil dG
-
And weary a little with tracingA
The Book she look d asideH
And lightly smiling and placingA
A Flower in its leaves she diedH
-
She died but her sweetness fled notI
As fly the things of powerE
For the Book wherein she read notI
Is the sweeter for the FlowerE
