Ode To P E A C E Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCB DDEFFE GGHIIH JJKLLK

O Thou who bad'st thy Turtles bearA
Swift from his Grasp thy golden HairA
and sought'st thy native SkiesB
When War by Vultures drawn from farC
To Britain bent his Iron CarC
And bad his Storms ariseB
-
-
-
Tir'd of his rude tyrannic SwayD
Our Youth shall fix some festive DayD
His sullen Shrines to burnE
But Thou who hear'st the turning SpheresF
What Sounds may charm thy partial EarsF
And gain thy blest ReturnE
-
-
-
O Peace thy injur'd Robes up bindG
O rise and leave not one behindG
Of all thy beamy TrainH
The British Lion Goddess sweetI
Lies stretch'd on Earth to kiss thy FeetI
And own thy holier ReignH
-
-
-
Let others court thy transient SmileJ
But come to grace thy western IsleJ
By warlike Honour ledK
And while around her Ports rejoiceL
While all her Sons adore thy ChoiceL
With Him for ever wedK
