Night Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCDEEFGHHIIJJKKLM NNOODD N

Now great Hyperion left his golden throneA
That on the dancing waves in glory shoneA
For whose declining on the western shoreB
The oriental hills black mantles woreB
And thence apace the gentle twilight fledC
That had from hideous caverns usheredD
All drowsy Night who in a car of jetE
By steeds of iron grey which mainly sweatE
Moist drops on all the world drawn through the skyF
The helps of darkness waited orderlyG
First thick clouds rose from all the liquid plainsH
Then mists from marishes and grounds whose veinsH
Were conduit pipes to many a crystal springI
From standing pools and fens were followingI
Unhealthy fogs each river every rillJ
Sent up their vapours to attend her willJ
These pitchy curtains drew 'twixt earth and heavenK
And as Night's chariot through the air was drivenK
Clamour grew dumb unheard was shepherd's songL
And silence girt the woods no warbling tongueM
Talk'd to the Echo satyrs broke their danceN
And all the upper world lay in a tranceN
Only the curled streams soft chidings keptO
And little gales that from the green leaf sweptO
Dry summer's dust in fearful whisp'rings stirredD
As loath to waken any singing birdD

From Britannia's PastoralsN
