Morning Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFGHHIJKL L

The Muses' friend grey eyed Aurora yetA
Held all the meadows in a cooling sweatA
The milk white gossamers not upwards snow'dB
Nor was the sharp and useful steering goadB
Laid on the strong neck'd ox no gentle budC
The sun had dried the cattle chew'd the cudC
Low levell'd on the grass no fly's quick stingD
Enforc'd the stonehorse in a furious ringD
To tear the passive earth nor lash his tailE
About his buttocks broad the slimy snailE
Might on the wainscot by his many mazesF
Winding meanders and self knitting tracesG
Be follow'd where he stuck his glittering slimeH
Not yet wip'd off It was so early timeH
The careful smith had in his sooty forgeI
Kindled no coal nor did his hammers urgeJ
His neighbours' patience owls abroad did flyK
And day as then might plead his in fancyL
