The Little Vagabond Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCC DDEE FFGG HHDD

Dear Mother dear Mother the Church is coldA
But the Ale house is healthy amp pleasant amp warmB
Besides I can tell where I am use'd wellC
Such usage in heaven will never do wellC
-
But if at the Church they would give us some AleD
And a pleasant fire our souls to regaleD
We'd sing and we'd pray all the live long dayE
Nor ever once wish from the Church to strayE
-
Then the Parson might preach amp drink amp singF
And we'd be as happy as birds in the springF
And modest dame Lurch who is always at ChurchG
Would not have bandy children nor fasting nor birchG
-
And God like a father rejoicing to seeH
His children as pleasant and happy as heH
Would have no more quarrel with the Devil or the BarrelD
But kiss him amp give him both drink and apparelD
