In futurityA
I prophesy seeB
That the earth from sleepC
Grave the sentence deepC
-
Shall arise and seekD
For her maker meekD
And the desart wildA
Become a garden mildA
-
In the southern climeE
Where the summers primeE
Never fades awayF
Lovely Lyca layF
-
Seven summers oldA
Lovely Lyca toldA
She had wandered longG
Hearing wild birds songG
-
Sweet sleep come to meE
Underneath this treeE
Do father mother weepC
Where can Lyca sleepC
-
Lost in desert wildA
Is your little childA
How can Lyca sleepC
If her mother weepC
-
If her heart does akeH
Then let Lyca wakeH
If my mother sleepC
Lyca shall not weepC
-
Frowning frowning nightA
O'er this desert brightA
Let thy moon ariseI
While I close my eyesI
-
Sleeping Lyca layF
While the beasts of preyF
Come from caverns deepC
View'd the maid asleepC
-
The kingly lion stoodA
And the virgin view'dA
Then he gambolled roundA
O'er the hallowed groundA
-
Leopards tygers playF
Round her as she layF
While the lion oldA
Bow'd his mane of goldA
-
And her bosom lickJ
And upon her neckK
From his eyes of flameE
Ruby tears there cameE
-
While the lionessI
Loos'd her slender dressI
And naked they convey'dA
To caves the sleeping maidA
