Holy Thursday (innocence) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CDEF GHIJ

Twas on a Holy Thursday their innocent faces cleanA
The children walking two amp two in red amp blue amp greenA
Grey headed beadles walked before with wands as white as snowB
Till into the high dome of Pauls they like Thames waters flowB
-
O what a multitude they seemed these flowers of London townC
Seated in companies they sit with radiance all their ownD
The hum of multitudes was there but multitudes of lambsE
Thousands of little boys amp girls raising their innocent handsF
-
Now like a mighty wind they raise to heaven the voice of songG
Or like harmonious thunderings the seats of heaven amongH
Beneath them sit the aged men wise guardians of the poorI
Then cherish pity lest you drive an angel from your doorJ
