Life And Death Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDCDCD| This world is driven by two contending powers | A |
| Love that coerceth Heaven to dwell with dust | B |
| And that dire pledge of Hell's self perjured Lust | B |
| And as we list must Heaven and Hell be ours | A |
| Not light the election runs lo each devours | A |
| That savour set in each while equal gust | B |
| Each uses yet our choice support we must | B |
| Blest wine or this rejected sweat that sours | A |
| Love oft through Hell that seems acclaims what Heaven | C |
| But Lust through seeming Heaven with easy breath | D |
| Slides on to Hell how soon how richly given | C |
| If Love to heavenly state so quickeneth | D |
| While Lust must e'er in cheating Hell be shriven | C |
| They sponsor what these powers but Life and Death | D |
