One friend to another friend,
So I’ll travel along
With a friend and a song.”
– Wilfrid Wilson Gibson (1878-1962)
coble_and_keel: The missing keepers of the Flannan Isles Lighthouse. Their disappearance was the subject of a popular work by Hexham born poet Wilfrid Wilson Gibson which implied a supernatural cause for poetic effect. The most likely explanation is they were swept off the landing by a huge wave

Neck-deep in mud,
He mowed and raved -
He who had braved The field of blood -
And as a lad
Just out of school
Yelled - April Fool!
And laughed like mad.

devnair67: The Lonely Tree by Wilfrid Wilson Gibson
"Men talk of forests broad and deep
Where summer-long the shadows sleep.
Though I love forests deep and wide,
The lone tree on the bare hillside,
The brave wind-bitten lonely tree
Is rooted in the heart of me "

RicoPundrich: Lyrics : Back
By: Wilfrid Wilson Gibson
They ask me where I’ve been,
And what I’ve done and seen.
But what can I reply
Who know it wasn’t I,
But someone, just like me,
Who went across the sea
Elizabethyha: At school in Duffield in the early 1960s one of my favourite poems was The Ice Cart by Wilfrid Wilson Gibson. Little did I know that years later I would work on Battle Hill in Hexham, just down the hill from his birthplace. Still a day-dreamer.

But we, how shall we turn to little things
And listen to the birds and winds and streams
Made holy by their dreams,
