Of the world's courage in its martyrdom | I |

Watching on tiptoe and with stifled roar | J |
To see a rocket fired or a bull slain | K |
When misers handle gold when orators | L |
Touch strong men's hearts with glory till they weep | M |
When cities deck their streets for barren wars | N |
Which have laid waste their youth and when I keep | M |
Calmly the count of my own life and see | C |
On what poor stuff my manhood's dreams were fed | O |
Till I too learn'd what dole of vanity | C |
Will serve a human soul for daily bread | O |
Then I remember that I once was young | P |
And lived with Esther the world's gods among | P |
