Rhyme Scheme: AAA BBB CDC EEE FFF CCC

The stricken hart had fled the brakeA
His courage spent for life's dear sakeA
He came to die beside the lakeA
-
The golden trout leaped up to viewB
The moorfowl clapped his wings and crewB
The swallow brushed him as she flewB
-
He looked upon the glorious sunC
His blood dropped slowly on the stoneD
He loved the life so nearly wonC
-
And then he died The ravens foundE
A carcase couched upon the groundE
They said their god had dealt the woundE
-
The Eternal Father calmly shookF
One page untitled from life's bookF
Few words None ever cared to lookF
-
Yet woe for life thus idly rivenC
He blindly loved what God had givenC
And love some say has conquered HeavenC
