From a defeat You reign in Macedon | B |
My Alexander as at earlier morn | B |
You reigned upon Parnassus hero king | C |
I reign no more not even in those hearts | D |
For which these songs were made and if I sing | C |
'Tis with a harsh and melancholy note | E |
At which my own heart like an echo starts | D |
Yet sometimes I can deem you listening | C |
And then all else is instantly forgot | F |
