The Love Sonnets Of Proteus. I Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABAABBBCDCEDCF

TO ONE IN A HIGH POSITIONA
To you a poet glorious heaven bornB
One who is not a poet but a sonA
Of the earth earthy sick and travel wornB
And weary with a race already runA
A battle lost e'er yet his day is doneA
Comes with this tribute shattered banners tornB
From a defeat You reign in MacedonB
My Alexander as at earlier mornB
You reigned upon Parnassus hero kingC
I reign no more not even in those heartsD
For which these songs were made and if I singC
'Tis with a harsh and melancholy noteE
At which my own heart like an echo startsD
Yet sometimes I can deem you listeningC
And then all else is instantly forgotF
