Pour Qui Sait Attendre Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABBBBBCDECFE

All things they say come home to those that waitA
Riches power fame lost fortune hope deferredB
Health to our friends ill hap to those we hateA
Even love that glorious paradisal birdB
The woman unattained whose thought has stirredB
Desire to its last chord importunateB
All shall be ours so runs the common wordB
If but our patience lag not on our fateB
O indigent consoling even if trueC
Crumbs for the hungry who thus fasting liveD
And die deceived in impotence of blissE
And we the god like fortune favoured fewC
Full dowered of joy What ransom shall we giveF
In thanks to Heaven who did not wait to kissE
