Laughter And Death Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABBCDCEFGFHC

THERE is no laughter in the natural worldA
Of beast or fish or bird though no sad doubtB
Of their futurity to them unfurledA
Has dared to check the mirth compelling shoutB
The lion roars his solemn thunder outB
To the sleeping woods The eagle screams her cryC
Even the lark must strain a serious throatD
To hurl his blest defiance at the skyC
Fear anger jealousy have found a voiceE
Love s pain or rapture the brute bosoms swellF
Nature has symbols for her nobler joysG
Her nobler sorrows Who had dared foretellF
That only man by some sad mockeryH
Should learn to laugh who learns that he must dieC
