Jewelled Offering Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDEFFGHIIEEJJKKFF LLMMNN OOPPOOQQO LLFFFFOODD

Jewelled offering bring I noneA
Jade or pearl or precious stoneB
Urn of crystal bale of spiceC
Unguent culled in ParadiseC
Dye how deep of rainbow hueD
Dust of gold from CambaluE
Ivory throne with sandal woodF
Inlaid all and scented oodF
Tent of silk whose tapestriesG
Tell of tears in ladies' eyesH
Heavenly tears 'neath moon and starI
Hopes that were and joys that areI
Ambient ever in love's soulE
Armed with might and near the goalE
Nought alas of these I bringJ
Necklace chain nor nuptial ringJ
No bold bridegroom I to beK
Nerved to dreams of chivalryK
Expedited at your wordF
Earth's whole realm to win by swordF
Daring all things briar and brakeL
Dole and Death for your dear sakeL
Onward upward heavenward borneM
O thou rose without a thornM
Rivalry in deeds to showN
Rodomont or RomeoN
-
Out alas Such love for usO
Outlawed is and vanitousO
Time can touch it not nor cureP
'Tis an ill we must endureP
Howsoever long our daysO
Howsoever rich in praiseO
Even in Heaven we may not winQ
Ear for this too sweet a sinQ
And no angel voice shall sayO
Ask it souls and have your way ''-
Be consoled then if I makeL
But this rhyme for birthday's sakeL
Leaving love gifts all asideF
Light to him shall call you brideF
Unacknowledged and untoldF
Useless as Utopian goldF
Nonsense rhymes Ah me such senseO
Nesting bird to nestling lendsO
Trills of pale parental hueD
Tragic only because trueD
