Esther, A Sonnet Sequence: Xxix Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGG

A glorious triumph On that day of daysA
When standing on the summit's utmost edgeB
Of my first mountain top I viewed the mazeA
Which I had travelled upwards ledge on ledgeB
And all that wilderness of rock and plainC
Rolled at my feet and when with heel fast setD
On Nature's neck I knew the giant slainC
My thrall my prisoner on the parapetD
I was transfigured Slowly in me roseE
The throb of courage as a sense new bornF
Even Man '' I cried Man's self my foe of foesE
The phantom of my fears shall feel my scornF
Yet in a nobler war '' And trembling thenG
I seemed to stand I too a man with menG
