Esther, A Sonnet Sequence: Xviii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCEFGHGII

Alas poor Queen of Beauty In my heartA
I could weep for you and your sad graceless doomB
You stand at my life's threshold in the partA
Of king's chief jester in the ante roomB
And none more near the throne You made us sportC
According to your folly and passed onD
And now you live with pension in Love's CourtC
And privilege to jest and wear the crownE
Yes I could weep for you Your part it wasF
To strike the cymbals on a night sublimeG
For Love's first bridal dance Alas alasH
Time the avenger of our manhood's primeG
Is gathering all life courtiers to his cellI
And you among the rest So fare you wellI
