Esther, A Sonnet Sequence: Xlii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFEGHGIJJ

And so we went our way yes hand in handA
Like two lost children in some magic woodB
Baffled and baffling with enchanter's wandC
The various beasts that crossed us and withstoodB
Each step was an experience Every moodD
Of that fair woman a fresh gospellingE
Which spoke aloud to me and stirred my bloodF
To a new faith I knew not with what stingE
One thing alone I knew or cared to knowG
Her strange companionship thus strangely wonH
The past the future all of weal or woeG
In my old life was gone for ever goneI
And still to this I clung as one who clingsJ
To hope's last hencoop in the wreck of thingsJ
