Esther, A Sonnet Sequence: Viii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGG

It was a booth no larger than the restA
No loftier fashioned and no more sublimeB
As poor a shrine as ever youth possessedA
In which to worship truth revealed in timeB
Yet to my soul the mean remembrance clingsC
With all the folly of that far fair eveD
And my pulse throbs with lost imaginingsC
And passion rises from its grave to grieveD
Vain dreams brute images and over allE
The shrill voiced dwarf its hierarch and priestF
Vaunting its praise a pagan prince of BaalE
It scared me as of some wild idol feastF
The Booth of Beauty '' thus it was I readG
Blazoned in scarlet letters overheadG
