Esther, A Sonnet Sequence: Lvii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDEDFGFGHH

This was my term of glory All who knowA
Something of life will guess untold the endB
In love one ever kisses for his woeA
One lends his cheek alas or seems to lendB
One has the pleasure one the penaltiesC
One is in earnest one has time to laughD
One turns impatient from imploring eyesE
And one in terror spells love's epitaphD
There was no wisdom in this love of mineF
Therefore it perished earlier than the restG
Although I poured out all my heart like wineF
And watered it with tears and prayed unblestG
In my soul's rage to all the Saints of heavenH
To give me this and yet to be forgivenH
