At The Gate Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACBDBD EEEEFF

Naked I came into the world of pleasureA
And naked come I to this house of painB
Here at the gate I lay down my life's treasureA
My pride my garments and my name with menC
The world and I henceforth shall be as twainB
No sound of me shall pierce for good or illD
These walls of grief Nor shall I hear the vainB
Laughter and tears of those who love me stillD
-
Within what new life waits me Little easeE
Cold lying hunger nights of wakefulnessE
Harsh orders given no voice to soothe or pleaseE
Poor thieves for friends for books rules meaninglessE
This is the grave nay Hell Yet Lord of MightF
Still in Thy light my spirit shall see lightF
