Ambition Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDBECFCFGGI had ambition once Like Solomon | A |
I asked for wisdom deeming wisdom fair | B |
And with much pains a little knowledge won | A |
Of Nature's cruelty and Man's despair | B |
And mostly learned how vain such learnings were | C |
Then in my grief I turned to happiness | D |
And woman's love awhile was all my care | B |
And I achieved some sorrow and some bliss | E |
Till love rebelled Then the mad lust of power | C |
Became my dream to rule my fellow men | F |
And I too lorded it my little hour | C |
And wrought for weal or woe with sword and pen | F |
And wounded many some alas my friends | G |
Now I ask silence My ambition ends | G |
