A New Pilgrimage: Sonnet Xxxv Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABBABACDCDEE

At last I kneel in Rome the bourne the goalA
Of what a multitude of laden heartsB
No pilgrim of them all a wearier soulA
Brought ever here no master of dark artsB
A spirit vexed with more discordant partsB
No beggar a scrip barer of all doleA
No son alas steps sorer with the dartsB
Of that rebellious sorrow his sin's tollA
I kneel and make an offering of my careC
And folly and hurt reason Who would notD
In this fair city be the fool of prayerC
Who would not kneel if only for the lotD
Of being born again a soul forgivenE
Clothed in new childhood and the light of HeavenE
