A New Pilgrimage: Sonnet Xxxiv Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABBCBDEFGFHHO fool O false I have abandoned Heaven | A |
And sold my wealth for metal of base kind | B |
O frail disciple of a fair creed given | A |
For human hope when all the world was blind | B |
What was my profit Freedom of the mind | B |
A little pleasure of the years some scars | C |
Of lusty youth and some few thoughts enshrined | B |
In worthier record of my manhood's years | D |
All else is loss and unredeemed distress | E |
The voiceful seasons uninvited come | F |
And bring their tribute of new flowers and pass | G |
Only the reason of the world is dumb | F |
Nor does God any more by word or sign | H |
Speak to our rebel hearts of things divine | H |
