A New Pilgrimage: Sonnet Vii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABBABACDCEFF

Ah Paris Paris What an echo ringsA
Still in those syllables of vain delightB
What voice of what dead pleasures on what wingsA
Of Maenad laughters pulsing through the nightB
How bravely her streets smile on me How brightB
Her shops her houses fair sepulchral thingsA
Stored with the sins of men forgotten quiteB
The loves of mountebanks the lusts of kingsA
What message has she to me on this dayC
Of my new life Shall I a pilgrim wanD
Sit at her board and revel at her playC
As in the days of old Nay this is doneE
It cannot be and yet I love her wellF
With her broad roads and pleasant paths to HellF
