A New Pilgrimage: Sonnet I Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCBBDBDBEBFGGCare killed a cat and I have cares at home | A |
Which vex me nightly and disturb my bed | B |
The things I love have all grown wearisome | C |
The things that loved me are estranged or dead | B |
I have a house most fair but tenanted | B |
With shadows only gardens of tall trees | D |
Fenced in and made secure from every dread | B |
But this one terror my soul's lack of ease | D |
I have much wealth of pleasure horse and hound | B |
Woods broad for sport and fields that are my own | E |
With neighbours of good cheer to greet me round | B |
And servants tried by whom my will is done | F |
Here all things live at peace in this dear place | G |
All but my pride which goes companionless | G |
