| That was only timely shown | E |

| The straw itself pretentious not | G |
| Had knowledge of its role | H |
| Quite useless was it by itself | I |
| This it could not control | H |

| But when it was allowed to be | B |
| A part of bale or heap | J |
| Its value all at once appeared | K |
| To be no longer cheap | J |

| And so one day to its surprise | L |
| It really didn t know | M |
| It was the one who did the trick | N |
