The Straw Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH BJKJ LMNM

The straw that broke the camel s backA
A straw quite ordinaryB
Its weight did not mean very muchC
Not challenging to carryB
-
But even though this measly strawD
Was worthless on its ownE
It had a value and a strengthF
That was only timely shownE
-
The straw itself pretentious notG
Had knowledge of its roleH
Quite useless was it by itselfI
This it could not controlH
-
But when it was allowed to beB
A part of bale or heapJ
Its value all at once appearedK
To be no longer cheapJ
-
And so one day to its surpriseL
It really didn t knowM
It was the one who did the trickN
Before anyone could say HoM
