In my boyhood said LakayanaA
-
Looking at the horizonA
-
Where skyscrapers met the eyeB
-
Made rememberC
-
Once upon a time a spearD
-
His spear sticking outside his Manyatta hutE
-
All went with the riverC
-
Forgotten as the riverC
-
I used to watch my reflection in the water while the cows drunkF
-
I killed an attacking lion once on the plainsG
-
All the girls danced around me thenA
-
I became a man andH
-
A man could chooseI
-
ThenA
-
Ah in my youth he sighedJ
-
Straightening his striped tieB
-
Stretching and yawningK
-
Lions still roamed the plainsG
-
Men were noble and wise andH
-
Women were women andH
-
You could see your reflection in the waterC
