Death Chant Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABA CCDD EEFF GHII JJKK

Viewless essence thin and bareA
Well nigh melted into airA
Still with fondness hovering nearB
The earthly form thou once didst wearA
-
Pause upon thy pinion's flightC
Be thy course to left or rightC
Be thou doomed to soar or sinkD
Pause upon the awful brinkD
-
To avenge the deed expellingE
Thee untimely from thy dwellingE
Mystic force thou shalt retainF
O'er the blood and o'er the brainF
-
When the form thou shalt espyG
That darken'd on thy closing eyeH
When the footstep thou shalt hearI
That thrill'd upon thy dying earI
-
Then strange sympathies shall wakeJ
The flesh shall thrill the nerves shall quakeJ
The wounds renew their clotter'd floodK
And every drop cry blood for bloodK
