With lightsome step and with joyous heartB
And eyes that Hope's gay glances dartB

To gain the prize of the brave and boldD
To snatch the crown from the age of goldD
Into the world into the worldC

Whither away girl whither awayA
Thy soft blue eyes are suffused with loveE
And thy smile is as bright as the sunshine aboveE
Whither away whither awayA

Into the world the beautiful worldC
To meet the heart that must mate with mineF
And make the measure of life divineF
Into the world into the worldC

Whither away old man whither awayA
With locks of white and form bent lowG
And trembling hands and steps so slowG
Whither away whither awayA

Out of the world Oh the weary worldC
With its empty pleasures and poison'd joysH
Whose draught first gladdens and then destroysH
Out of the world out of the worldC
With shatter'd hopes and with feeble frameI
From Life's sharp struggle and unsped aimI
Out of the world Oh the weary worldC

Hurrying swiftly with weeping eyesJ
And hectic cheeks and smother'd sighsJ

Oh Father my heart but there is restK
