Vulcan Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCDDEE FGGFHHEE EIIEEEDD JKKKJEELL

From the darksome earth mine liftedA
From the clay and from the rockB
Loosen'd out with many a shockB
Slowly from the clay dross siftedC
Molten in the fire bright burningD
Ever purer whiter turningD
Ho the anvil cool and steadyE
For the soften'd rod make readyE
-
Blow thou wind upon the flameF
Raise it ever higher hotterG
Till like clay before the potterG
Soft become the iron frameF
Bending at the worker's willH
All his purpose to fulfilH
Ho the fire purged rod is readyE
For the anvil cool and steadyE
-
At each stroke the sparks fly brightlyE
Upward from the glowing massI
Hail the stroke that makes them passI
Fall it heavy fall it lightlyE
Now the stubborn strength bends humblyE
To the Master yielding dumblyE
From the metal purged and glowingD
Forms of freest grace are flowingD
-
Wield thine hammer well strong armJ
Strength to Beauty wedded bringsK
Glory out of rudest thingsK
Facts from mere imaginingsK
Strike from steel its hidden charmJ
Little reck the rocks the blowE
That makes the living water flowE
Little recks man's soul the rodL
That scourges it through tears to GodL
