Under The Sea Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACCA DEEDCCA BFFBGGCCA HIIHCCH EJJECCH

Deep in the bosom of the oceanA
Where sunshine fades to twilight gloomB
The pure pearls lie and the coral bloomB
Rests unsway'd by the upper motionA
Calm and still the hours pass byC
The lovely things that sleeping lieC
Deep in the bosom of the oceanA
-
The thunder rolls from cloud to cloudD
And the bitter blast sweeps o'er the seaE
Shaking the waters mightilyE
But ne'er the tempest's voice so loudD
Sinketh down to the things that lieC
The lovely things that sleeping lieC
Deep in the bosom of the oceanA
-
The icebergs crack with a sullen boomB
Riven by the hands of the angry NorthF
And like the Angel of Wrath sent forthF
The whirlwind stalks with the breath of doomB
Crushing like dust 'neath its heavy treadG
The last frail spar o'er the seaman's headG
But nought can reach the things that lieC
The lovely things that sleeping lieC
Deep in the bosom of the oceanA
-
Deep in the bosom of God's acreH
Beyond the reach of grief or careI
As sweetly rest the good and fairI
Where Life's rude foes can ne'er o'ertake herH
Calmly and sweetly the hours pass byC
The bless d ones who sleeping lieC
Deep in the bosom of God's acreH
-
Patience thou poor one faint and wearyE
For thou shalt come unto this restJ
And leaning on a mother's breastJ
Forget the world to thee so drearyE
Calmly and sweetly the hours pass byC
The happy ones who hoping lieC
Deep in the bosom of God's acreH
