The Bell. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACCCA DEEDFFFD GHHGIIIG JKKKJLMLJ INNNIOOOOI PFFFQRRSSSSQ

Through the calm and silent airA
Floats the tolling funeral bellB
Swooning over hill and dellB
Heavy laden with despairA
Mute between each muffled strokeC
Sad as though a dead voice spokeC
Out of the dim Past time spokeC
Stands my heart all mute with careA
-
The Bell is tolling on and deepD
Deep and drear into my heartE
All its bitter accents dartE
Peace sad chime I will not weepD
What is there within thy toneF
That should wring my heart aloneF
Rive it with this endless moanF
Peace and let past sorrows sleepD
-
Fling your music on the breezeG
Mock the sighing of the willowsH
Mock the lapping of the billowsH
Mock not human sympathiesG
Slow chime sad chime mock me notI
With that loved voice ne'er forgotI
Flooding me with tears blood hotI
Mock not soul deep memoriesG
-
Come not from the unseen PastJ
Flying up the silent galeK
With that deep and muffled wailK
Slaying me with lying taleK
Base chime false chime from the PastJ
Not in sighs of mortal painL
Pain and anguish rise againM
Voices from the far Death plainL
Not thus speaks she from the PastJ
-
Peace yet for though she speaks notI
From her Paradise in theeN
Whispers nevermore to meN
In my lonely miseryN
Oh that loved voice ne'er forgotI
Thou dost wake my brooding soulO
Smit'st it till the bitter doleO
Breaks aloud beyond controulO
While the briny tear drops rollO
Drowning cries which she hears notI
-
Cruel Bell harsh Bell ring onP
I shall turn my heart to stoneF
Flinging back thy mocking toneF
Callous of thy deepest moanF
Lying Bell thy power is goneQ
Spake she from her golden cloudR
Spake she to my heart aloudR
Every murmur of her voiceS
Would bid my lone heart rejoiceS
Every murmur of her voiceS
Ah would make my heart rejoiceS
Lying Bell thy power is goneQ
