Vague Story, A Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD AEAEFDFD GHGHIDJD

Perchance it was her eyes of blueA
Her cheeks that might the rose have shamedB
Her figure in proportion trueA
To all the rules by artists framedB
Perhaps it was her mental worthC
That made her lover love her soD
Perhaps her name or wealth or birthC
I cannot tell I do not knowD
-
He may have had a rival whoA
Did fiercely gage him to a duelE
And being luckier of the twoA
Defeated him with triumph cruelE
Then she may have proved false and turnedF
To welcome to her arms his foeD
Left him despairing conquered spurnedF
I cannot tell I do not knowD
-
So oft such woes will counteractG
The thousand ecstacies of loveH
That you may fix on base of factG
The story hinted at aboveH
But all on earth so doubtful isI
Man knows so little here belowD
That if you ask for proof of thisJ
I cannot tell I do not knowD
