TO ORATISTS to male or femaleA
Vocalism measure concentration determination and the divine powerB
to use wordsC
Are you full lung'd and limber lipp'd from long trial from vigorousD
practice from physiqueE
Do you move in these broad lands as broad as theyF
Come duly to the divine power to use wordsC
-
For only at last after many years after chastity friendshipG
procreation prudence and nakednessC
After treading ground and breasting river and lakeH
After a loosen'd throat after absorbing eras temperaments racesC
after knowledge freedom crimesC
After complete faith after clarifyings elevations and removingI
obstructionsC
After these and more it is just possible there comes to a man aJ
woman the divine power to use wordsC
-
Then toward that man or that woman swiftly hasten all None refuseC
all attendK
Armies ships antiquities the dead libraries paintings machinesC
cities hate despair amity pain theft murder aspirationL
form in close ranksC
They debouch as they are wanted to march obediently through the mouthM
of that man or that womanL
-
O I see arise orators fit for inland AmericaJ
And I see it is as slow to become an orator as to become a manN
And I see that all power is folded in a great vocalismO
-
Of a great vocalism the merciless light thereof shall pour and theJ
storm rageP
Every flash shall be a revelation an insultQ
The glaring flame on depths on heights on suns on starsC
On the interior and exterior of man or womanL
On the laws of Nature on passive materialsC
On what you called death and what to you therefore was deathR
As far as there can be deathR
