The World Below The Brine Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJIKLMNOPQFR

THE world below the brineA
Forests at the bottom of the sea the branches and leavesB
Sea lettuce vast lichens strange flowers and seeds the thickC
tangle the openings and the pink turfD
Different colors pale gray and green purple white and gold theE
play of light through the waterF
Dumb swimmers there among the rocks coral gluten grass rushesG
and the aliment of the swimmersH
Sluggish existences grazing there suspended or slowly crawlingI
close to the bottomJ
The sperm whale at the surface blowing air and spray or disportingI
with his flukesK
The leaden eyed shark the walrus the turtle the hairy sea leopardL
and the sting rayM
Passions there wars pursuits tribes sight in those ocean depthsN
breathing that thick breathing air as so many doO
The change thence to the sight here and to the subtle air breathedP
by beings like us who walk this sphereQ
The change onward from ours to that of beings who walk otherF
spheresR
