Behold This Swarthy Face Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGDH

BEHOLD this swarthy face these gray eyesA
This beard the white wool unclipt upon my neckB
My brown hands and the silent manner of me without charmC
Yet comes one a Manhattanese and ever at parting kisses me lightlyD
on the lips with robust loveE
And I on the crossing of the street or on the ship's deck give aF
kiss in returnG
We observe that salute of American comrades land and seaD
We are those two natural and nonchalant personsH
