To Burns Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCDC BEFE GHGH

Suggested on returning home for my holidays by an old portrait of the poet which hangs in my roomA
-
Old friend I always loved theeB
In childhood's early daysC
Delighted I would listenD
With laughter to thy laysC
-
And better still I loved theeB
To riper boyhood grownE
Because thou wert the pride ofF
The land that's part my ownE
-
But with devotion deepenedG
I greet thee now anewH
Of love because thou singestG
So simple sweet and trueH
