To Beauty Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCE FEFEEEEE GHGHIEIE JEJEGKGK

Beauty beloved of all gentle heartsA
And pure and cherished of the gifted tribeB
Whose skill to canvas and even stone impartsA
Such things as words are powerless to describeB
And bards who woo thee in the silent shadeC
And dote upon thee under moonlit skiesD
And lovers who behold thee new array'dC
As our first parents did in ParadiseE
-
These all have been thy priests In times remoteF
In Athens and the cool Thessalian dellsE
They sung thy liturgy with dulcet noteF
And quaff'd thy chalice from the sacred wellsE
Of leafy Helicon Beneath the browsE
Of fam'd Olympus and among the islesE
Of the Aegean sea they paid their vowsE
And read thy lore in Nature's frowns and smilesE
-
Nor strange to Zion's sanctuaried hillG
Wast thou embalmer of the holy pageH
Ambrosial odors from thy garments fillG
The garden where the amorous royal sageH
Walk'd and discours'd with his beloved thereI
Alluring in thy soft and sumptuous dressE
And to his kinglier sire supremely fairI
Companion sweet of meek ey'd HolinessE
-
Thou hast no local temple no set shrineJ
Thou art diffus'd o'er earth and sky and seaE
In every land a thousand haunts are thineJ
Spirits of every race respond to theeE
Here thy Olympus and thy Zion hillG
Thy silvery Aegean I surveyK
Thy majesty and loveliness at willG
I view and own thy tranquilizing swayK
