The Fever Burns From Morn Till Eve Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBC DEDE FGFG

NOTE The following is an attempt to render in verse the passionate words of a young officer in the Indian service who had fallen a prey to the ravages of the feverA
-
The fever burns from morn till eveB
I toss upon my bedC
And none but heavy hands relieveB
My aching heated headC
-
Harsh voices of hard hearted menD
Attempt to sympathizeE
But sympathy is worthless whenD
Love gives it not its riseE
-
Could thy soft hand but soothe my brainF
Thy voice to mine replyG
'Twere rapture then to toss in painF
'Twere rapture e'en to dieG
