| Exhausted and disheartened by his way | B |
| So hard and parched unchanged from day to day | B |
| Saw the lone traveller an oasis near | A |
| In which a tender flower did appear | A |
| Endued with beauty and with fragrance sweet | C |
| Known not to scorching winds nor blighting heat | C |
| And gazing on it it imparted cheer | A |
| The traveller trod the weary sands of Time | D |
| Entering thy home delightful peace he found | E |
| Radiant with youthful beauty half divine | F |
| On him thine angel face with sunbeams crowned | E |
| Smiled and that artless beaming smile of thine | F |
| Sped to his soul that with new life did bound | E |
