Scene In The Trojan War Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCDEFGHIJHKL

Translated from HomerA
-
And when th'opposing ranks in conflict closedB
Shield rang on shield and rattled lance on lanceC
And clashed the might of brazen mail d menD
And 'midst the din of steel encount'ring steelE
The exultation and the groans aroseF
Of warriors slaying warriors being slainG
And soon the earth flowed red with heroes' bloodH
And such the raging of the mingled hostI
As wintry torrents bursting from the hillsJ
Hurl in one basin their impetuous floodH
From mighty springs within the hollow rockK
And the lone shepherd hears the distant roarL
