Recreation Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH

Give me a cottage embower'd in treesA
Far from the press and the din of the townB
There let me loiter and live at my easeA
Happier far than the King with his crownB
-
There let the music that's sweeter than wordsC
Waken my soul's inarticulate songD
Murmur of zephyrs and warbling of birdsC
Babble of waters that hurry alongD
-
Under the shade of the maple and beechE
Let me in tranquil contentment reclineF
Learning what nature and solitude teachE
Charming philosophy human divineF
-
Finding how trivial the myriad thingsG
Life is concern'd with to seek or to shunH
Seeing the sources whence blessedness springsG
Gathering strength for the work to be doneH
