Prayer For Submission. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD AEAEFCFC GFGFHCHC

How often Lord when 'tis Thy willA
To use the chastening rodB
My soul possessed of passions illA
Rebels against its GodB
Denies that Justice reigns in heavenC
Doth His decrees pervadeD
And loathes the blessings He hath givenC
The creatures He hath madeD
-
Do thou the spirit me instilA
Of sweet submission LordE
And teach me to Thy sovereign willA
In meekness to accordE
Like Him who felt affliction's fireF
But never did repineC
And bore the cross at Thy desireF
When harder far than mineC
-
Enough it is my King's commandG
What more do I requireF
Yet what is from a father's handG
Can but to good conspireF
And all Thy workings are inwoveH
In Thine eternal planC
Which wills the welfare in Thy loveH
And works the weal of manC
