Our Father Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHFIJKLMNBOMP

Father How precious is that name to meA
Name rendered sacred e'en by earthly tiesB
How full of vaster meaning when appliedC
To Him high dwelling in the heavenly homeD
How much of love it whispers to the soulE
Of that true pure and unimpassioned loveF
That lasting love which father bears to sonG
It speaks of kindly interest fond regardH
And anxious care the offspring of that loveF
Its sound assures of guidance in the rightI
Of readiness to guard from what is illJ
Of willingness to grant supporting aidK
Of gracious blessings and of bounteous giftsL
And then unlike a father here belowM
The heavenly Father's favour and his helpN
Are unrestricted in their exerciseB
His store unbounded power infiniteO
And while an earthly parent soon must goM
He ever lives and ever is the sameP
