The demoiselles of sunny FranceA
Have gaiety and graceB
Britannia's maids a tender glanceA
A sweet and gentle faceB
Columbia's virgins bring to kneeC
Full many a duke and earlD
But there is none can equal theeC
My own Canadian girlD
-
Thy hair is finer than the flossE
That tufts the ears of cornF
Its tresses have a silken glossG
A glory like the mornF
I prize the rich luxuriant massH
And each endearing curlD
A special grace and beauty hasI
My own Canadian girlD
-
Thy brow is like the silver moonJ
That sails in summer skiesK
The mirror of a mind immuneJ
From care serene and wiseK
Thy nose is sculptured ivoryC
Thine ears are lobes of pearlD
Thy lips are corals from the seaC
My own Canadian girlD
-
Thine eyes are limpid pools of lightL
The windows of thy soulM
The stars are not so clear and brightL
That shine around the poleM
The crimson banners of thy cheeksN
To sun and wind unfurlD
Thy tongue makes music when it speaksN
My own Canadian girlD
-
God keep thee fair and bright and goodO
As in thy morning hourP
And make thy gracious womanhoodO
A still unfolding flow'rQ
And stay thy thoughts from trifles vainR
Thy feet from folly's whirlD
And guard thy life from every stainR
My own Canadian girlD
