Extended o'er anarchy's savage domainB
The land of the dauntless explorers who prestC
Upstream through the wilderness into the WestC
Know'st thou the land of the soldier and knightD
The land of adventure and toil and delightD
Know'st thou the landE

'Tis the land of my home my beloved native landE

Know'st thou the land where the Briton and GaulF
In courage and prowess supreme over allF
Contending for lordship and vying for placeG
Collided and locked in a mighty embraceG
So bravely that fame has awarded the palmH
Of deathless renown to both Wolfe and MontcalmH
Know'st thou the land for which heroes have diedI
The land of the strong and the true and the triedI

The noblest and best of his fellows is heJ
He grows in the meadow the grove and the woodK
His trunk is for timber his sap is for foodL
His boughs are for fire in the cold winter daysM
His leaves are for shade from the summer sun's blazeM
Know'st thou the land of the maple benignN
The land of the elm and the oak and the pineN

Are tossed by the tempest or fanned by the breezeO
The land of Superior's crystalline tideI
Of Huron's exuberant vigor and prideI
Of Erie's alluring voluptuous glanceP
Ontario's laughing Elysian expanseP
Know'st thou the land that is praised evermoreQ
By the chant of their surge and Niagara's roarQ

Know'st thou the land of the clear flowing streamsR
That mirror the stars and reflect the sun's beamsR
Through the woods and the farmland they wander at largeS
And the deer and the kine come to drink at their margeS
They flash in the distance like ribands of whiteD
Their trout haunted pools are the angler's delightD
Know'st thou the land of the rivers and rillsR
The boon of the lowlands the joy of the hillsR

Know'st thou the land where St Lawrence proceedsR
By cities and hamlets and blossoming meadsR
And islands and waters of lesser degreeJ
With his tribute to pour in the lap of the seaJ
His shining battalions he halts to deployT
Or leaps through the rapid with turbulent joyT
Know'st thou the land that he laves in his flowU
Where deep laden argosies royally goU

Till their summits are lost in the depths of the skiesR
Their granite foundations are far undergroundV
Where the gold and the coal and the iron aboundV
And the sun on their white headed majesty flingsR
The radiance of crowns and the purple of kingsR
Know'st thou the land of these citadels tallF
With their ramparts and battlements wall upon wallF

On all things a magical beauty bestowU
Then the earth is a bride and the tingling air wineN
The frosty sky sparkles the Pleiades shineN
And the bright merry dancers in gorgeous arrayW
Like ghosts of dead sunbeams come forth to their playW
Know'st thou the land of the sleigh bells the landE
Of the warm fireside and the welcoming handE

In earth's beauty and grandeur a foretaste of heavenX
Where History lingers enthralled with the viewY
Of as splendid exploits as the world ever knewY
Where Industry reaps the rewards of her toilZ
In the wealth of the cities the fruits of the soilZ
Know'st thou the land which the Muses regardA2
The land of the sculptor the singer the bardA2

Where the present fulfills the fond hopes of the yearsR
The dreams of romancers the visions of seersR
