H. M. S. "dreadnought." Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFEF

Titanic craft of many thousand tonsA
A smaller Britain free to come and goB
Relying on thy ten terrific gunsA
To daunt afar the most presumptuous foeB
Thick panoplied with plates of hardened steelC
Equipped with all the engin'ry of deathD
Unrivalled swiftness in thy massive keelC
Annihilation latent in thy breathD
-
Dreadnought thy name And yet for all thy sizeE
And strength the ocean might engulf thy prowF
Or the swift red torpedo of the skiesE
The lightning blast thy boast emblazoned browF
Thou hast thy use but Britain's sons were wiseE
To put their trust in better things than thouF
