The Shepherd Wind Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIK LMLM

When hills and plains are powdered whiteA
And bitter cold the north wind blowsB
Upon my window in the nightA
A fairy garden growsB
-
Here poppies that no hand hath sownC
Bloom white as foam upon the seaD
And elfin bells to earth unknownC
Hold frost bound melodyD
-
And here are blossoms like to starsE
Tangled in nets of silver laceF
My very breath their beauty marsE
Or stirs them from their placeF
-
Perchance the echoes of old songsG
Found here a resting place at lastH
With drifting perfume that belongsG
To roses of the pastH
-
Or all the moonbeams that were lostI
On summer nights the world forgetsJ
May here be prisoned by the frostI
With souls of violetsK
-
The wind doth shepherd many thingsL
And when the nights are long and coldM
Who knows how strange a flock he bringsL
All safely to the foldM
